Brief Thoughts: Running in Pitch Black

Seeing as how I am still in the midst of recovering from a cold I figured I would share some thoughts from running in the dark last night.
  • Taking into account that there are various forms of small lighting on the trails it is not as dark as it would seem to be. For example there is moon light, street lamps, lights from cars going by
    • The trail that I was on is near the city but in still in the woods, great concept!
  • You can identify that you are still on the trail based off the sound of your own footsteps
  • I was running on mulch which meant that you could identify different shades of darkness within the trail
  • Elevation such as steep hill can really throw off your sense of vision and awareness
    • Had to take some time to slow down for that
    • 3 steep hills on the trails
  • Best way to go through with it , is just go through with it (its like going on a big roller coaster or some form of thrill seeking event)
  • As I have continued to go on these run my comfort level has continued to go up
  •  If you take the time to stop, you experience a very odd sense of calmness, not sure how to describe it really can you go any farther than silence?

Thanks For Reading!

Keep on Running!
